REMOVAL
NOTE:
Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
WARNING:
Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
CAUTIONS:
Using a suitable transmission jack support the differential case.
NOTE:
If equipped.
NOTE:
Use penetrating oil - spray through the driveshaft bolt holes as shown.
CAUTION:
Use a suitable bolt with a square cross section end to avoid damaging the driveshaft joint.
NOTE:
Driveshaft joint shown removed for clarity.
CAUTION:
Install the bolt finger tight first.
NOTE:
Tighten the bolt until the movement of the driveshaft joint is detected.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.
NOTE:
This step must be carried out to make sure that the drive pinion nut is correctly tightened on assembly.
Accurately scribe a line to mark the drive pinion shaft to the nut and pinion flange.
Note the depth of the pinion nut on the pinion shaft prior to removal.

CAUTION:
be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

CAUTION:
Discard the seal.
Carefully remove and discard the drive flange oil seal.
Special Tool(s): 100-012, 308-529
