REMOVAL

CAUTION:

The suspension arm nuts and bolts must be tightened with the suspension arms in the normal ride position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in premature failure of the bushing.

NOTES:

  • Only use clean water as a lubricant for the bushing, if required
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

All vehicles

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

Refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

Remove the front subframe.

Refer to: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation).

Power steering steering gear (G1778594) Removal and installation

Remove the front stabilizer bar. Discard the nuts and bolts.

Vehicles with petrol engine

Power steering steering gear (G1778594) Removal and installation

Remove the heatshield.

Torque: 10 Nm

Vehicles with diesel engine

Power steering steering gear (G1778594) Removal and installation

Remove the heatshield.

Torque: 10 Nm

Vehicles with diesel particulate filter (DPF)

Remove the wiring harness.

Vehicles without diesel particulate filter (DPF)

Remove the wiring harness.

All vehicles

Power steering steering gear (G1778594) Removal and installation

Remove the steering gear. Discard the bolts.

Torque:

Stage 1: 60 Nm

Stage 2: 60º

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the steering gear. Renew the bolts.

Renew Part: Steering gear bolts.

Torque:

Stage 1: 60 Nm

Stage 2: 60º

Install the wiring harness.

Install the heatshield.

Torque: 10 Nm

Install the front stabilizer bar. Renew the nuts and bolts.

Renew Part: Front stabilizer bar to subframe bolts.

Renew Part: Front stabilizer bar to subframe nuts.

Torque:

Vehicles fitted with 18'' brakes

Stage 1: 115 Nm

Stage 2: 240 Nm

Vehicles fitted with 17'' brakes 175 Nm

Install the front subframe.
