Land Rover Discovery: Front end Sheet Metal Repairs Fender Apron Panel Front Section (G1775681) - Removal

REMOVAL

NOTE:

The fender apron panel front section is installed in conjunction with:

  • Front bumper cover
  • Hood
  • Hood hinge
  • Hood latch panel
  • Front fender
  • Fender splash shield

Front end sheet metal repairs fender apron panel front section (G1775681) - Removal

  1. The fender apron panel is serviced as indicated.
  2. Before commencing this procedure make sure that you are aware of all Health and Safety requirements.

  3. For further information on the methods, tools and fixings used in this procedure refer to the body repairs - general information section.

NOTES:

  • Any joints sealed as part of vehicle manufacture must be sealed as part of the repair.
  • Make sure a zinc rich primer is applied to any bare metal surfaces.

  3. Remove the hood hinges.

CAUTION:

Care should be taken not to cut through into the inner reinforcements.

Front end sheet metal repairs fender apron panel front section (G1775681) - Removal

  1. Using a combination of the new fender apron panel and the measurements mark out the position on the vehicle where the metal inert gas (MIG) welded butt joint is to be made and cut the panel as indicated.

  1. Remove the spot welds as indicated.

  1. Remove the spot welds as indicated.
  2. Carefully separate the joints and remove the fender apron panel.

  1. Mark, measure and cut the fender apron panel reinforcement where the MIG welded butt joint is to be made and cut the panel as indicated.
  2. Carefully separate the joints and remove the fender apron panel reinforcement.
