NOTE:

Remove the Engine cover.
Refer to: Engine Cover - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel (501-05 Interior
Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Remove the oil filter cover and oil filter element.
CAUTION:
Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

Remove the oil filter cover and oil filter element.
CAUTION:
Make sure a new O-ring seal is installed.

- Install the oil filter element to the cap.
Renew Part: Oil filter O-ring seal.
- Do not fit the oil filter element to the vehicle at this stage.
WARNING:
Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING:
Observe due care when draining engine oil as the oil can be
very hot
CAUTIONS:
- Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
- Discard the bolt.
- Allow at least 10 minutes for the engine oil to drain.

Drain the engine oil.
CAUTIONS:
- Make sure that the component is clean, free of foreign
material and lubricant.
- Make sure that a new bolt is installed.

Renew Part: Oil pan drain plug.
Torque: 23 Nm
- Install the engine undershield.
Refer to: Engine Undershield (501-02 Front End Body Panels,
Removal and Installation).
Lower the vehicle.

Install the oil filter element and cap.

Remove the engine oil level indicator.

Fill the engine with oil.

Clean any residual engine oil from the oil filler cap area.

Check the engine oil level.

- Start the engine and allow to run for 10 minutes, stop the
engine.
- Check for leaks.

Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
Remove and discard the oil filter element.
Renew Part: Oil filter O-ring seal.
Renew Part: Oil filter.

Under no circumstances should the flexplate retaining bolts be
inserted into the crankshaft with the flexplate removed. Failure to
follow this instruction

parts of the engine must still bed-in,
relative to each other. This process occurs
mainly in the first 3 000 km of operation.
