Land Rover Discovery: Engine Control Module (ECM)
Adaptions
OPERATION
The ECM has the ability to adapt the input values it uses to control certain
outputs. This capability maintains engine refinement and ensures the engine
emissions remain within the legislated limits.
The components which have adaptions associated with them are:
- Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S)
- Nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensor
- Mass Air Flow and Temperature (MAFT) sensor
- Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor
- Electric throttle.
DIAGNOSTICS
The ECM stores each fault as a DTC. The DTC and associated environmental
and freeze frame data can be read using an approved diagnostic system,
which can also read real time data from each sensor, the adaption values
currently being employed and the current fueling, ignition and idle speed
settings.
