REMOVAL
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: Specifications (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables,
Specifications).
WARNING:
Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.

Discard the bolts.

- Using a M10 x 1.0-6H tap, clean out the threaded holes.
- Using suitable brake cleaner, remove any foreign material
from the threads.
WARNING:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
CAUTIONS:
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of
foreign material.
- Make sure that new bolts are installed.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

Torque:
Stage 1: 30 Nm
Stage 2: 120º

REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean
and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must
be sealed.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
Refer to: Valve Cover (303-01B, Removal and Installation).
CAUTION:
Remove and store roller finger cam followers and hydraulic
valve tappets in the fitted order and invert to prevent oil loss.
Do not squeeze hydraulic valve tappet chambers together.

CAUTIONS:
- Check roller finger cam followers and hydraulic valve
tappets for signs of wear, scoring and overheating.
- Make sure oil holes in the hydraulic valve tappets are clear.
- Care must be taken not to damage the retention clip.

INSTALLATION
CAUTIONS:
- Lubricate hydraulic valve tappets, roller finger cam
followers and hydraulic valve tappet bores with engine oil.
- Install hydraulic valve tappets and roller finger cam
followers to the original fitted order.
- Make sure the retention clip on the roller finger cam
follower has engaged and installed correctly to the
hydraulic valve tappet.
- Make sure roller finger cam follower is located correctly on
the valve tip between the two guidance arms.
