Reinforcement (G1770903) - Removal
Removal
NOTE:
The A-pillar reinforcement is installed in conjunction with:
- Front bumper cover
- Hood
- Front fender
- Fender splash shield
- Front door
- Instrument panel
- Windshield glass
- Headliner
- Side air curtain module
- Front scuff plate trim panel
- A-pillar trim panel
- A-pillar outer panel
- Front seat
NOTE:
The A-pillar reinforcement is detached from the side panel
reinforcement ring frame as it is not serviced separately.
- The A-Pillar reinforcement is serviced as indicated.
- Before commencing this procedure make sure that you are aware of
all Health and Safety requirements.

NOTES:
- Any joints sealed as part of vehicle manufacture must be sealed as
part of the repair.
- Make sure a zinc rich primer is applied to any bare metal surfaces.
- If the A-pillar reinforcement is damaged in the area adjacent to the
rocker panel inner reinforcement then a new rocker panel inner
reinforcement and B-pillar reinforcement panels must be installed.

- Release and position the floor carpet to one side.
- Release and position the floor noise, vibration, harshness (NVH)
material to one side.
- Release and position the wiring harness to one side.
- Remove the retaining nut as indicated.
NOTE:
Do not discard the retaining nut as it is used in installation.
- Remove the spot welds as indicated.
- Remove the spot welds as indicated.
CAUTION:
Care should be taken not to cut through into the inner
panels.
- Cut the A-pillar reinforcement where the metal inert gas (MIG) butt
weld is to be installed as indicated.
- Remove the NVH component as indicated.
- Carefully separate the joints and remove the A-pillar reinforcement,
also releasing the NVH component as indicated.

Dress the flanges where necessary.
Clean and prepare the panel surfaces.
Using the old A-pillar reinforcement as a guide, detach the new Apillar
reinforcement from the ring frame as indicated
NOTE:
The A-pillar outer panel is installed in conjunction with:
Front bumper cover
Hood
Front fender
Fender splash shield
Front door
Instrument panel
Windshield glass
Headliner
Side air cur
SEE MORE:
Never remove the coolant
reservoir filler cap when the
engine is hot. Escaping steam or
scalding water could cause serious
personal injury.
Unscrew the filler cap slowly,
allowing the pressure to escape
before removing completely.
Antifreeze is highly inflammable.
Do not allow antifreeze
REMOVAL
Remove the engine cover.

Remove the heat shield.
Torque: 10 Nm
Using suitable cutting/grinding equipment remove the clamp weld
at the points illustrated
